About
Hello! My name is Lucja Stawikowska and I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Florida. In addition to my bachelor's in mechanical engineering, I am pursuing a minor in electrical engineering to explore my interests and supplement my major field of study. My future academic goals include pursuing higher education in mechanical or another type of engineering.
Even though I would like to work in industry in the future, I have a particular interest in academic research. In high school, I spent 2 years working at the Florida Atlantic University BioRobotics Lab. During that time, I worked directly with my faculty advisor to independently plan, conduct, analyze my own project. I presented my findings at four state and national conferences, and wrote a conference paper publication. Currently, I am an undergraduate researcher at the University of Florida Center for Complex Multiphase Turbulence under Dr. Balachandar.
In order to gain industry-relevant experience, I am part of the Gator Motorsports design team at UF. Presently, I am a system engineer for the accumulator and drivetrain systems of the Formula Student race car. Working on the team allows me to improve my design, manufacturing, testing, and teamwork skills, as well as apply fundamental engineering concepts from my coursework. Gaining this experience has inspired an interest in automotive engineering which I will continue to explore moving forward.
